What this is. What it is not.

Plain words, so nothing here adds to the load.

Not legal advice

  • Every page on this site is a template and general information. It is not legal advice, and it is not advice about your matter.
  • Drafting Millwork is not a law firm. No one here is your lawyer. Using this site does not create a lawyer–client relationship, an agency, or any duty to you beyond ordinary care in what we publish.
  • We do not act for you, we are not a party to your matter, and we will not be named in it. Every letter is sent by you, in your name, on your decision.
  • Nothing here guarantees an outcome. A letter that worked once, for one person, in one matter, may not work for you.

Check the section

  • Every clock and every quote was checked against the Act or the body’s own page on the day the page was built. Acts change. Bodies move their deadlines. Read the section before you rely on it, and read the body’s current page before you send.
  • Western Australia and the Commonwealth unless a page says otherwise. Another state has other Acts and other clocks.
  • Where a body publishes no time limit, the page says so. “None stated” does not mean “never”. Sooner is stronger.

The letterhead

  • You may put the Drafting Millwork letterhead on a letter about your own matter, sent in your own name. That is what it is for.
  • You may not use it to suggest we represent you, to suggest a letter comes from a government body, a court or a law firm, or on anything you sell. Do not remove the footer line that says the template was supplied by us and the letter is yours.
  • The letterhead adds a reference number and a rule. It does not add authority. The receipt under the letter is the authority.

Your information

  • What you type stays in your browser. It is saved there so you can come back, and nowhere else. We never see it. Clear it with the button on any letter, or by clearing your browser data.
  • No accounts, no tracking, no analytics on the letter pages.

If it is too much

  • One letter at a time. The clock page tells you which one is running. Everything else can wait until that one is sent.
  • If you are in danger, call 000. If you need to talk to someone, Lifeline is 13 11 14, any hour.
  • For advice about your matter: Legal Aid WA (legalaid.wa.gov.au), a community legal centre (communitylegalwa.org.au), or a lawyer. Take the letter with you; it will save the first twenty minutes.
